University Foundation Award flexible 6 - 18 months Courses run in Hull and London September 2007 to September 2008 ![]() Award: This award has been developed in partnership with The Centre for Life Long Learning at The University of Hull. This award provides an excellent opportunity for those who have just begun a career in Civil Protection or for those wishing to up-date themselves with the latest legislation and good practice. Award Structure: The award consists of five 2 day modules. Each delegate who wishes to complete the award must complete all five modules and a work-based project of approximately 3000 words. Delegates who do not wish to complete the UFA have the option to select modules which suit their individual preferences. On completion of a module a Certificate of Completion and 10 credits will be awarded. These credits can count towards other university awards. Duration: There is a maximum of 18 months to complete and pass all the modules, assessments and projects. Materials: Delegates will be issued with a personal workbook and all relevant reference materials for each module. They will also have access to the University Virtual Learning Environment. Learning Methods: The Award is designed to encourage maximum participation through active learning. Each module will combine formal teaching, discussion and analysis, group exercises and tasks. Assessment: Each module will have a number of assessments built into the programme the majority of which will be completed by the delegates during the 2 contact days. Assessments will take the form of written assignments, delegate presentations, class-based exercises, individual exercise and learning portfolios. Delegates enrolled onto the UFA are required to complete and pass a work-based project of approximately 3000 words.
